El Presidente Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 I have a member heading to Caracas who was asking about the selection and pricing of Cuban cigars there. I know there is a LCDH but little more. His second question was if there are some good Venezuelan cigars to hunt down? I have no idea. However, there is no reason that I know of why there couldn't be some excellent Venezuellan tobacco grown? All insights welcome
Meesterjojo Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 Have to ration toilet paper. But excellent cigars. You know, I can see that. 1
Nino Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 While I would not head to Caracas right now, I can report that a good friend of mine has received a licence to open a LCDH in CCS. No idea when it will open or prices/selection yet, but I can vouch that he is a great professional and a good friend, As for Venezuelan cigars - never heard of such. 3 1

As far as tobacco: Two varieties of tobacco grow in Venezuela, black and Virginia blond; the latter is used for the most part to make certain popular brands of US cigarettes under license Venezuela is at a fairly odd latitude for premium tobacco of any kind. Never heard of it so it's likely the terroir is simply not suited for it for whatever reason--something that is not unique as there are only a handful of regions on Earth that are. 2 1
