I have a member heading to Caracas who was asking about the selection and pricing of Cuban cigars there.  I know there is a LCDH but little more.

His second question was if there are some good Venezuelan cigars to hunt down?

I have no idea. However, there is no reason that I know of why there couldn't be some excellent Venezuellan tobacco grown?

All insights welcome

While I would not head to Caracas right now, I can report that a good friend of mine has received a licence to open a LCDH in CCS.

No idea when it will open or prices/selection yet, but I can vouch that he is a great professional and a good friend,

As for Venezuelan cigars - never heard of such.

Tell him to bring his own toilet paper...

As far as tobacco:

Two varieties of tobacco grow in Venezuela, black and Virginia blond; the latter is used for the most part to make certain popular brands of US cigarettes under license

Venezuela is at a fairly odd latitude for premium tobacco of any kind. Never heard of it so it's likely the terroir is simply not suited for it for whatever reason--something that is not unique as there are only a handful of regions on Earth that are.
