More of a story here than a review -- I went back and looked through the reviews that I have posted on FOH.  Surprisingly, only one other Boli review.  I've fallen into the habit of trying to pick something different, or perhaps interesting to my fellow BOTL's, when really a Boli PC or Boli CJ is the most likely CC that I'm going to pick out of the humi.  I've been doing enough collecting that there are now over 1800 CC's in the collection and counting the NC's, 37 different cigars that I could choose from - yet those two are the most frequent picks.  And looking at that wrapper - why not!

When I first started collecting CC's, I thought Boli's were way too strong for my taste yet, I'd never smoked one.  Aren't these the cigars that turn people green? One day there was a sale that caught my attention and I thought, what the heck, give them a try.  If I don't like them I can give them away or put them away for 10 years and certainly they'll mellow.  What a surprise, and I was pretty lucky that my first ever box of these cigars was a Boli PC (MSU MAY-2019 - what a great box code) and it was unbelievably good.  From that point on I'm hooked!  These are really now, my everyday cigars.

 

Fast forward about a year and a half, I've gone through 2 boxes of Boli PC's, there are 4 boxes left in the humi and I start adding Boli CJ's to the mix (now 8 boxes deep).  The perfect CC when all I have is 30 to 45 minutes.  Yes, I like my Parti shorts, my SCdlH Principe's but there's just something about the Boli mix of consistent leather, earth and the occasional tastes that still surprise me when they show up.

They start off in the first third surprisingly smooth - just as this one did.  I have found that the strength does pick up slightly in the following thirds but it is definitely not overpowering to my palate.  I usually get smooth toasted tobacco, leather and some earth in the first third - not overly complex but, not bad.  I rarely ever have to get out the perfect draw and they have pretty good construction and burn.

It's in the second third where these cigars shine.  From my tasting notes, I've gotten hints of cinnamon, brown sugar, flint and even the occasional Guinness stout.  Always a pleasant surprise.  But, even if they just give me that consistent leather, earth and sweet toasted tobacco I'm a pretty happy guy.

What's even better is their price point in the CC world.  They are not my cheapest cigar, but. maybe, only about a dollar more than the cheapest CC in my collection.  When I find a two-box deal -- I'm likely buying more to set aside and age.  Although they don't yet seem to be lasting long enough to really age much.

This one was similar to most of the rest.  Given Moe's challenge this week I really thought I wouldn't have a chance to get a long ash out of a small format cigar -- but who knew?

Fully agree!  I have read that they are not the "Bolivar of Old".  Since I've never had one older than 2018, I have no way of comparing them.  The 2019's and 2020"s are very approachable young and smoke so good with just a year or two of age -- I wonder why you would want a cigar that needs 5 to 8 years of rest to smoke the same.  I have other CC's in the collection that are aging for that time frame and I'm grateful Habanos s.a. is putting out something that I can really enjoy while I'm waiting.
