Popular Post TobaccoRoad Posted March 18, 2021 Popular Post Posted March 18, 2021 One of my favorite smokes, so an easy choice for a review. Started with a straight cut and the draw was perfect. This box has had some tight draws but this one was open, even though the cigar was tightly packed. The initial puffs were a little disappointing. Slightly oily and bitter. The cigar improved quickly but still had a sort of soapy flavor through the first inch. The ash was a little flaky but held on tightly. As the cigar progressed it morphed into a better flavor profile with a nice core of tobacco and leather with a slightly sweet retrohale. To honor the ash theme, instead of breaking the ash off. I gently pared off the end so I could keep at least an inch of ash on it. This worked well and the flavors continued to improve as I progressed with some light baking spices showing up. I'm not sure that it was due to the technique I used with the ash but the cigar smoked superbly. Very easy to pace without having to work at it. Plenty of smoke without having to double puff and it never got overheated. Tending the ash to keep at least an inch on the cigar is not something I do often, but for this contest it was fun to do. The flavors in this particular cigar were not up to what I usually get from a HU #2. Maybe it was the cigar, maybe it was me. But it was still a very relaxing smoke. Right at 2 hours to the nub. 8 of 10. 11
Meklown Posted March 19, 2021 Posted March 19, 2021 Nice review and good read. You may want to add the (FYARW) for the comp as well! 1
Spaceman Spiff Posted March 19, 2021 Posted March 19, 2021 I had a BRE box from 17 and it was nothing less than magical. So upset I didn't exercise restraint because they are all gone now. But that just means I'll have to get more! Excellent review by the way, there is nothing quite like a good HU #2. 1

Ditto, I think you really need to add (FYARW) the title of your thread to qualify for the contest. But I am not a site administrator or “MoeFOH”, so I do not actually know if you really have to have that in your thread title to qualify.
