justince Posted January 19, 2021 Posted January 19, 2021 Although I call myself a huge Partagas fan, I've actually never had a Lusitania before (!) -- I smoke shorts, D4's, presidentes, and a lot of the CNC's fairly often, but I never pulled the trigger on a box of Lusi's. I DO have two singles lying around though (both were not handled well and have damage..), and I decided tonight was the time to light one up. I was so excited I forgot to take pictures. Cut & light, draw seems good at first...but the smoke output is nominal. I notice there's a little hole in the wrapper, and some tearing began. Believe me, I tried everything to save this big guy -- as a last resort, i even tried putting a little piece of scotch tape to plug the hole, but at best i needed to triple puff it to get any semblance of smoke. What I did get out was quite the tease: airy (probably due to the poor smoke output), but that Partagas sourdough DNA was there, with no spice. Milder than most other Partagas blends, but extremely smooth. A bit bitter, but not in a bad way. Unfortunately this got to the point that it was unsmokeable and I had to toss it. Craving some more partagas, I immediately went back to the humidor and grabbed a short. Figured I'd be able to compare both side-by-side, and while the Lusi was far from optimal, there were definitely some differences -- in a follow up post.. A picture of my other single (which also has some damage and I'm really worried about lighting it up) : 4
