So I thought about it more.  What is a cigar that I think will ascend in 2021.  Honestly, I have no clue and it’s based on factors that are way outside my wheelhouse.  So I thought about it differently - things are cyclical.  What’s a cigar that I (and others) used to talk about but seems to have fallen away a bit in the conversation?

I recall about 5-6 years ago, EVERYONE was talking about the Petit Edmundo.  How they loved it.  How it was the favorite of the line (I have only had one double Edmundo so I don’t have a ton of experience here).  But around 2018, the “sleeper” cigar was the Hoyo Petit Robusto.  And I understand that. It was somehow a great cigar made in an off year.

So perhaps 2021 is the year of the re-ascendancy of the Petit Edmundo.  I don’t own any recent ones (having done the 14-17 stock) so I figured I would revisit it.  BAFE8BF3-448F-4990-B5C4-3E2A40BAAAD9.jpeg.34462ed63de05d4c24323eb459531e1e.jpeg

Its a perfect look.  5 years in.  Rich brown.  Not too oily.  Laguito from this period has been excellent.  First puffs are dry woods.  Not unpleasant but not what I was expecting actually.  Paired better with the martini than I even would have expected.  But it had elements of pine and rosemary.  Took a little while for smoke to settle in.  D6DFB2AF-AD74-43BC-A1F4-7B4ECA553C9D.jpeg.7cd4f10ee51c4354815de95dc136e943.jpeg

Right about an inch in.  Boom!  Coffee and cream.  So lovely.  Construction throughout was excellent.  It’s so mellow and focused and pleasant.  The amazing part is that there is still tons of life left in it.  I only have 4 more from this box but I plan on savoring them for the next few years.

Perhaps this will be my first pickup of 2021.
