Trinidad Esmeralda 12DCRC

This is my 5th cigar from the Xmas sampler. Have a box of these that I have been resting and not tried yet, so this is my first time have the Esmeralda but have loved all Trinidad I have tried.

52F, paired with a Topo Chico Mineral water.

Pre light draw: Perfect resistance, slightly sweet tobacco.

1/3: Draw is perfect and putting out tons of smoke. Opens with cream, toasted tobacco and some sweet nuttiness.

2/3: Burn has been perfect. Really enjoying this cigar. Lots of cream and a very distinct note of cake batter. Love it!

3/3: Didn’t want this to end. Amazing flavor! Cream and cake, with some toasted tobacco.

 

This has been head and shoulders above the other cigars I have smoked from the sampler. This would have gone down as the best cigar I smoked in 2020, so I am thrilled to have this as my first cigar of 2021! An easy 95 points.

Esmeraldas have been good to me but I still think they probably need a few years of age to fully shine.

I agree. That was my thought going into this smoke and was surprised how good it was young. Even though this was fantastic, I am still going to let the box I have gain some years before breaking into them.
