Popular Post Chas.Alpha Posted October 28, 2020 Popular Post Posted October 28, 2020 Ok, 1st some history... I am a naturally born US citizen living in Florida. I have seen everything (including the infamous plexi-glass Esplendidos boxes) peddled as Habanos. I am VERY suspicious of your “friendly and knowledgeable” online retailer. I typically would get Havanas from authorized shopkeepers that I met through my European travels. After the US loosened up the travel restrictions in 2015 , I was amongst the first to jump on the airplane... It was a bucket-list opportunity. A dream that I had since 1978. Real Havana cigars, in Havana! On my trip down in October of last year, after laughing with Alex about the odds of finding Behike being similar to getting a box of “Sir David’s”, I was curious and went on a GTS (Google that Shit.”) It led me to FOH. I carefully placed a 10) ct. box of Monte #2 in my cart, with trepidation that I might check these CigarCzars out at some point... The next evening, while sitting at my local pub after work, I signed on to possibly give them a try. They were, after all, Australian. If you can’t trust an Aussie, who can you trust??? I signed at the moment Rob and Diana posted the 12 days of Christmas sampler. I was dragged into it because the ARS ‘19 Fundadores were ARS, month and date of the box that I had just unloaded from my suitcase! Thus begins my review: I hesitate from the get-go, because a 54 is just a cigar that I would never buy. A jawbreaker from my point of view, I’m a 42/46 max kind of guy. That said, it starts off with a light floral and slight coffee/nougat note. Too light for my liking. Running down the 1st 3rd, it gains a momentum of coffee and floral, but maybe a bit stronger with the coffee. 2nd: This reminds me of good coffee, not the chickpea stuff I was drinking last year! Floral has all but vanished at this point. 3rd: This is a damn good cigar! Coffee, maybe walnut and wood? I give it an 88/89, mostly because of the gauge... 11
