Popular Post TTP21 Posted October 19, 2020 Popular Post Posted October 19, 2020 Dry Review Appearance: A bit rough - not horrible, not winning a beauty contest Cold draw: Smooth, sweet, simple. Draw seems pretty open, a trait I very much dislike in a cigar. First third: Yup, this one is either too dry or very loose, or a combination of both. That said, the flavors here are pretty good. All are accompanied by a hint of harshness which stayed throughout the cigar. Shortbread, citrus, almond. Second third: I'll take criticism here, but the flavors ramp up into special territory here. Shortbread, cocoa, nuts, honey. At one point, I get a distinct Twix bar flavor. Heavier on the cookie part, with caramel and a light chocolate in the background. Final third: the heat, harshness, and open draw catch up here and i put it down with about an inch left. Overall: Even with the challenges, this is a 92 for me. As I smoked this, I truly thought that this may be one stick that needs a higher RH. My previous 2 CX - one was great, smoked on a hot and humid day, the other bland and boring on a chilly.windy day. I'm excited to see how the wet review comes out. Only one picture, the next review will have a few more! Wet Review Cold draw is very similar First Third Very tight draw here. Almost instantly I think I was incorrect in my theory that this would benefit from smoking wet. Flavors are darker, roast coffee, nuts, lacking any sweetness. Middle third Opens up a bit, but still pretty muted. Faint cocoa without sweet, definitely some cedar here and there. Final third Won't stay lit, had to end it mercifully. Overall I think this one needs that extended dry box. Perhaps this one being a bit tighter it would have shined as I could faintly taste what was there before. Not too harsh, but nothing like the dry version. I'd give this an 85. 8
TTP21 Posted October 22, 2020 Author Posted October 22, 2020 Crap. I took pictures that were in 108 MP and they're too large to add. Apologies for the lack of pictures!
