Popular Post maverickdrinker Posted September 29, 2020 Popular Post Posted September 29, 2020 The wrapper is a deep chestnut hue. Toothy and rustic. A little bumpy throughout the cigar but fork with a slight give when squeezed. Nice little box press to it due to years in slumber. The rounded triple cap looks good and the foot is packed. Aromas of cappuccino, cream, hazelnut, earth and leather emanate from the wrapper. A quick twist from my Siglo multi punch and we are ready for action. The draw is nice. Good airflow with a slight resistance. Hazelnut, cream, light cedar and cinnamon come from the cold draw. First ThirdThis is beautiful. Lavender, oolong tea, ginger, cocoa with touches of light oak, leather, earth and cinnamon start us on our journey. Strength is medium bodied. The retrohale is lush and vibrant. Lavender, oolong tea, cocoa, leather and light oak move gingerly through the nasal passages. Gorgeous. The after finish is delicate and elegant. Lavender, oolong tea, cocoa, leather and light oak are at the forefront. Candied ginger, earth and cinnamon form the back end. Lucious on the palate and very complex. No harshness to speak of. A gentle balance between flavour and strength. They dance beautifully together. Second ThirdLavender is joined by citrus in the retrohale. a wonderful combination that is joined by cocoa, leather and cinnamon. Moves seductively through the nasal passages. The after finish is cloying and complex. Lavender, cocoa, citrus and leather lead the way with cinnamon, earth, oolong tea and candied ginger in the back end. So elegant on the palate and good interplay between flavours with each draw. Smoking divine right now... Final ThirdRoasted nuts enters the fray, deepening the flavour profile. Really prevalent in the retrohale. Joins lavender, cocoa, leather and earth as it moves through the nasal passages. The after finish has a nice depth to it. Very complex and nice balance between savoury and sweet flavours. Roasted nuts, cocoa, lavender, leather and earth on the forefront. Cinnamon, citrus, oolong tea and candied ginger on the back end. Beautiful length on the palate. Such an elegant and refined flavour profile. Wonderful way to end the journey. Final ImpressionsThis is smoking brilliantly. A glimpse into yesteryear. A delicate tight rope between savoury and sweet. Refined and elegant flavour profile with beautiful complexity and nuance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 11
RDB Posted September 29, 2020 Posted September 29, 2020 Super review: informative when thinking about my own cigar tasting, so thank you. Also a great advertisement for the virtues of regular Rafael Gonzalez. I was smoking a fantastic PC recently and had a similarly complex, refined experience.
