I have only a couple of these left and this was a cigar I was saving for a "special occasion". Well I guess Monte review week was just that. The cigar was constructed very well with a few veins showing and a tail at the top. The aroma at cold was sweet tobacco and not much else. After I clipped and lit the cigar the draw was perfect. A little resistance and a razor sharp burn. It opened with a refined cocoa flavor and coffee notes around the edge. The retrohale revealed more coffee and a richer chocolate note. The aroma of this thing burning was also notable. Sweet chocolate.

Throughout the first third of the cigar the cocoa flavors stayed in front and through the retrohale and on the finish I detected cedar and the occasional fruit note. Very complex opening.

In the 2/3 the cocoa note became more of a rich chocolate and the coffee notes seem to drop off for the most part. The ash was a salt and pepper in color and held on for a little while between knocking it off. The sweet cedar and chocolate noted played off one another for quite a while.

In the final third of the cigar the chocolate notes ramped up again with a creamy note to boot. I am not a fan of milk chocolate to eat, I prefer dark, but this combo in a cigar is amazing. I smoked it down to the nub, I don't have a poker or anything to get the last bit but this cigar made me want one. The final part of the cigar saw some of the berry (blackberry) notes return and chocolate morphed into a dark chocolate at the end.

This cigar was a tad better than the Monte no 3 I smoked earlier today. The Laguito no2 is probably my favorite vitola, I wish more marcas made regular production cigars in this size. The size just seems to have the right balance of RG and length to always be enjoyable. Just a fantastic cigar.
