El Presidente Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 Franklin Pierce: Circa 1850s Portrait Cigar Box. Wooden box measuring 8 3/4" wide, 5 3/8" deep and 3 1/8" tall. The lid is stamped "General Franklin P[ierce] Habana" within a circle. There is a multicolored paper end label with Pierce's portrait which extends onto the lid, titled "General Franklin Pierce. Fabrica de Tabacos de la mejor calidad... Habana". The interior label shows the "Teatro de Tacon" in Havana. One end panel reads "Colorado 100". Crack in base, slight warpage to lid. Loss, peeling and discoloration to paper trim. Stain to portrait. The only example we have ever seen. Unusual items for Pierce very seldom appear in the market. 3
NSXCIGAR Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 He must have liked cigars since he almost annexed Cuba.
