Popular Post Silverstix Posted May 31, 2020 Popular Post Posted May 31, 2020 Ahhh, BRE. The new LUB. The Upmann factory. It makes sense that the majority of the best Upmanns have come from this factory. And in my experience that has been the case. #2, Connie 1, and Connie A have all been great from the Upmann factory in my experience with them. This smoke tonight was no different. This was my 5th Connie A from this box and this one was my best yet. Starts out mild-medium bodied, all sweetness - vanilla cupcakes and sweet cream. Really really nice. Very slight hint of some spice on the finish and the retrohale. Moving into the 2/3 - the insane amount of sweetness begins to move to the middle of the line and a fine leather starts to replace it. Almost like that vanilla cupcake was a little well done on the bottom of the pan. The light spice is still there on the finish and on the retro. The cigar is now approaching a more medium bodied smoke with a longer finish and a little bit of a darker profile. Getting into the 3/3 and the sweetness is now only hanging on in the finish. The predominant profile is now a rich leather and spice. Solidly medium bodied by the time I put this cigar down. There has been a noticeable evolution throughout this cigar and it has been great. It took me on a journey from sweet to sweet and spicy to leathery spicy goodness with a touch of sweetness in the background. I heard that the ESL 19 code is great for the Mag 50’s and I hope to sample from that box soon. However if I had to put all my chips into the Upmann pot, I would bet on the BRE code for anything made since 2017. Total smoke time: 95 minutes Rating: 92/93 Cheers!!
