Popular Post Çnote Posted April 10, 2020 Popular Post Posted April 10, 2020 I've been looking at this since September, mainly wondering if I would have the time to smoke a canoñazo. Haha. My apologies for forgetting whomever generously added this as a cherry on a trade. I've probably smoked about 100 Cohiba bands, some of them probably faux, but I've never gotten the hype. I'm anything but a Cohiba fanboy and given other circumstances this would have probably been smoked by a friend, but here we go! 1st 3rd - immediate flavor of honey, rolling in sourdough baguette. Classic dried straw nuances. 'Crisp' smoke texture if that makes any sense. Mild but rich. Very spot on. Needed a massive touch up going into 2nd 3rd. 1st time I've ever seen this required on a Cohiba Honey turns to sweet marmalade, baguette to toasted brioche; smoke texture becomes pumpkin pie of all things. It's really good. My touch up did not take. I have to remove the band ahead of an aggressive runner. Ash fall of course happens, probably for the better as this turns to thick velvet smoke, suede leather, creme spices and the citrusy twang moves all the way to the back end where you can feel it's -Cuban- The nub is just a brick of flavor and ultra rich smoke, just coming into a full flavor. There's a definite tunnel showing which caused the wonkiest burn for me so far this year. Had this been a house roll in a lounge, I would have asked for credit on my next purchase. It's still 100% delicious, the last inch is easily the best smoke of the last 12 months. So, am I Cohiba smoker after this? Maybe. The flavors are better than say Davidoff or God of Fire for about the same $, but buying $$$ NC singles is safe, easy and budgetable vs boxes of VI which is an entirely different transaction for me. I'd much rather get 50ct of PLPC than either, or MC#5, Party Short, SCDH, Reyes etc. I vastly prefer CC and this was a stellar example, if double edged: outstanding flavor, less than perfect construction. Alas. Maybe on day I'll have a few boxes of CoRo, Corona, or Siglo to enjoy, but it's not going to be soon. 13
