Popular Post Silverstix Posted April 6, 2020 Popular Post Posted April 6, 2020 I’ve been smoking Cubans for just over 2 years. This was the first box of cigars I ever bought, in February 2018, because they were similar to what JFK smoked so I thought they’d be cool to get. They were also cheap. I didn’t know they had already been designated as discontinued, and I didn’t know how great they are. After smoking that first one, I went back online and bought 2 more boxes. So glad I did. This particular cigar is on the rougher side. It may be hard to tell from the photos, but the wrapper is on the dry side and has a pretty thick vein running up the side of it. I use a small punch cut and the draw is good, a little on the open side. Nice sweetness on the cold draw. 1/3 starts off very nicely with a warm bready kind of vibe. Mild-medium and inoffensive. Sweetness on the finish, this is a very easy smoke. Draw is a little too open for me, I have to pay attention to avoid overheating this one. Bready sweetness begins to lose out to a darker profile now. Still a sweetness on the finish but it’s more like a gingerbread kind of sweetness. 2/3 now medium bodied. I’ve had a few from this box that had a “darker” kind of profile to them like this. It’s earthy, wood, with a spiced sweetness left on the palate. Still effortless to smoke. Draw still needs to be watched. Burn line is great. 3/3 draw now firms up to exactly where I like it. Still a medium bodied experience, this is more of a continuation of the middle part of the cigar. Got a little bitter as I got to the band, this is where I ended things. In conclusion: these are a great cigar that I can’t believe aren’t being rolled anymore. Some I’ve liked better than others, but I’ve liked them all. From this box, I’ve had some cigars with a warm bready profile and some with a darker background like this one. The darker ones fall more in like with the Magnum 46 I think, but with less strength. Smoke time: 55 minutes Overall: 87/100 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 6
JohnS Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 I agree, I can't believe these aren't rolled anymore either. Thanks for the review!
