Popular Post David88 Posted February 17, 2020 Popular Post Posted February 17, 2020 The sun came back on Saturday afternoon so thought I would pick up a larger cigar to enjoy with a coffee or two. It’s seems strange but winter in Egypt gets pretty cold, particularly inside! The recent discussion on LEs has been interesting to read, so I had a Club Allones on Friday and thought this would make an interesting comparison. Clean, straight cut and a good draw. Every stick I’ve had from this box has been well constructed. The first third opened well, with a strong coffee, biscuit, chocolate flavour and good levels of smoke. Burn was good and no touch ups or relighting needed. The second third was pretty unremarkable. The smoke output dropped and the flavour just turned to clean tobacco. Some delights were needed and I was beginning to worry. Thankfully things picked up for the final third. The burn started to behave again and the body picked up a bit and the coffee flavour came back with some intensity. Overall it was a good cigar but you can see why some may feel a touch of disappointment with the LE price premium. It wasn’t the best stick I’ve had from the box but it was good none the less and made for an enjoyable afternoon. These have aged much better than the Club Allones, which has lost its initial vibrancy and not really come around to anything notable as yet. 90/91 for a score 6
