The covered tobacco, as a fundamental raw material for making the layers of the cigars, had a total planting of 770 hectares at the end of this month, which represents a notable advance in the plantation expectations agreed for this year in the province.

The official said that so far the tobacco growers have planted 14 250 hectares and the work will be extended to February in places with conditions to continue; task that aims to complete the commitment of 19,769 hectares to sow in the 2019-2020 campaign.

With the participation of 8,747 producers in the sowing activity, an index of healthy growth of the plants in the fields has been achieved, of which more than 800 000 quotas have been collected to date for further processing in the rooms available to these farmers today.
