A winedor question for the group. I just picked up a free wine fridge that I'm going to use as a humidor. The compressor is shot but that's ok because I don't need it to cool due to climate control in my house. I want to wire up some LED lights and a computer fan for air circulation. Any recommendations? I'm not a computer or tech guy so I wouldn't know the first place to look. Thanks!

It's probably good that the compressor is not functioning. Compressor wine coolers I would not recommend for using as humidors. I recommend you use the search function as there are some really fantastic guides on converting these wine coolers. I use USB-powered CPU fans, and they are very simple to setup, as well as the LED lighting.

Yup, basic LED string lights. Run the leads out through the seal and the lights along the inside circumference of the glass. They are thin enough that you ought to not have much of any moisture loss. These are usually USB or battery powered.

Have to disagree with the "common knowledge" around cigar communities regarding compressor cooling. This is a matter of one company selling a product that largely does not work... MHO.

Converting a wine cooler to a humidor that really works (again MHO) is not a process for the faint hearted. Lights, shelves... none of that is what makes a precision humidor work. Want to see what it does take, find me on YouTube. CigarClimatology.

Best of luck on your project. -Piggy
