Popular Post Bri Fi Posted December 24, 2019 Popular Post Posted December 24, 2019 I bought a box of 25 Lusi a couple years ago with the intention of having one a year for 25 years. This is number two from this box. The first one I had was about a year and a half ago. The cigar was very green and only tasted of tobacco. This experience was much different The wrapper is has a very thin silky smooth texture. Not incredibly oily but there is some sheen. I used a straight cut and got a little bit of sweet fruit flavors on a cold draw. First third was nothing special. Mostly toasted tobacco and wood. It tasted very much like how I remembered the first one did a year and a half ago. 85/100 The second third was a compete turn around. Definite Partagas spice. There’s some spiced cream that pops up along with a sweet note I cannot describe. It’s not overwhelming but it’s in the background. 92/100 The final third was shortened by my baby crying. I’m surprised I made it this long actually. Overall, same notes as the second third. Spiced cream and hints of sweetness. No major changes. 90/100 Overall it was a pleasurable smoke. I found it odd that the first third lacked while the second and final third is where it shined. Even in the first third I felt like the toasted tobacco was of a higher quality than normal CC. I look forward to next year when I can see where these develop. Total time was about 2 hours and the construction was impeccable. Overall 91/100. 17
Derboesekoenig Posted December 24, 2019 Posted December 24, 2019 Damn you must have the patience of a god, unless you have more than one box. I can easily go through a box of these per year. One of my favorites! Hard to beat aged Lusi too though
Bri Fi Posted December 24, 2019 Author Posted December 24, 2019 This is my only box. I don’t have a ton of time to tackle a DC often because of my baby. Honestly the only reason I smoked it today was because it’s almost the end of the year and I want to have one a year otherwise I would’ve waited. Glad I didn’t though. I can see why you go through so many. It’s pure class.
RDB Posted December 24, 2019 Posted December 24, 2019 Ahhh Lusitania... maybe the greatest single cigar value. Nice review, and I like the 25 year box story. 1
bmf30180 Posted December 24, 2019 Posted December 24, 2019 I'm also 2 into a box of 25. Same experience for me (and my Sir Winston's). I did grab a cab of Lusi's on my last trip to the island, so I can sample them a bit more often. Glad the hear they are beginning to open up a bit, and so soon. Can't wait to explore the evolution. 1
Bri Fi Posted December 24, 2019 Author Posted December 24, 2019 I’m a price point guy and I’ve been eye balling sir winnies lately as they are on the higher end of my budget. But I’m always looking for high quality sticks to enjoy and age at the sane time. I’ve read such positive reviews on the winnies so I might dive in there. CoLa’s were on my radar but I might have to go upmann instead. It’s hard to compare to marcas and vitolas that aren’t the same. But as far as price point goes, I’m wondering where I should spend the coin. 1
bmf30180 Posted December 24, 2019 Posted December 24, 2019 I'm in same boat. I've been lucky I suppose as I've been able to find most things I want in Havana. Aside from the Cola and few others.
