Popular Post CampDelta369 Posted December 22, 2019 Popular Post Posted December 22, 2019 Montecristo No. 4 REG MAY 18 (XNYRC) Construction, wrapper, and Draw have been excellent on this box. These wrappers appear as the slightly darker variety that have been noted quite a bit over the past year. 1/3: Lights up with cocoa, coffee, cream and some baked goods. No spice or pepper. Mild-medium. The retro Hale on these have been enjoyable. Some touch ups on the first third here but our local humidity has been swinging wildly and the others from this box had no burn issues due to construction. My humidor is stable at 64%RH 72F 2/3: I get a little twang in the edges now which I find quite agreeable with the core flavors. Unfortunately I can’t set it down for long as it seems like it wants to self extinguish. Flavors get more intense at the half pole and I feel like I have to puff to often. It’s still a delicious smoke at this point. 3/3: almost an earthy richness is added now underscored by a whiff of barnyard on the nose. Core flavors dominated by coffee and dark chocolate but stays at a medium strength for me, a perfect morning smoke Overall still a solid 90 even considering the burn issue on this example. This still remains a favorite in the rotation. 5
