Hi everyone. Had a question on whether or not I should remove the newspaper when storing them. I've had them in the humi since late March as is from when purchased and wanted to ask the experts.

If this is a Cuban newspaper, then perhaps the paint contains lead, which in modern newspaper printing has been abandoned. It is known to be poisonous. Personally, I am not an expert, but would replace the newspaper immediately with rice paper at least.

I have a hard time seeing how a little newspaper wrap can cause major trouble with humidity in a humidor.   If the customs are in a ziplock for any length of time it shouldn’t take long for both the paper and the cigar to reach a level of homeostasis with regards to water content.  I agree with @nKostyan that the ink in the paper or indeed even the paper itself may have been made to a lower standard than should be, and I personally remove mine from the newspaper straight away.

Thanks for the input! I didnt have any RH fluctuations since they were stored in ziplocs within the humidor. I did remove the paper so all should be good for the long term.
