Wilzc Posted October 28, 2019 Posted October 28, 2019 I’ve been avoiding the Open series for quite some time now with my only experience being the horrendous regatta and pretty decent junior. This Master however looks absolutely gorgeous so I’ll take this RW to have a go at it!! From the get go, construction is a dream! The draw has just that little bit of resistance and the smoke output is exemplary for a Cuban. Burn line was not the most crisp but it held the combustion without need of any re-lights until the first ash drops. First 3rd: Light wood, dried grass and hay, with that ever so light sour note and cubanesque ‘twang’. Some mocha fleets in and out. Super enjoyable even if it’s a little light on the body. Just below medium. Second 3rd: It’s Monte DNA begins to creep out, but only just. Still the same profiles as the first with some more cacao notes and just a touch of citrus. Still below medium body at this point. The mocha-Nutella drink I’m having sort of overpowers the smoke but it leaves a little more chocolate notes just to extract that cacao out of the cigar. The Cambodian single origin choc bar is Uber fruity, with a lot of sour and floral bites as well. The trio doesn’t really jive too well as the Master is unable to keep up with the bolder flavours of the rest of the chocolate lineup. Final 3rd. The light woodiness is all but lost as the cigar gets earthy tones with right now a medium body. Citrus. Orange peel. Espresso. Earth. Wet dried grass? Haha. Final thoughts: I think 3 years is the sweet spot for this cigar. 90 points. I don’t know if age will do anything positive on this cigar so it’s definitely ready to smoke now. Also, as much as this is branded as an ‘outdoor cigar’ I think it’s best to have this indoors in a less hectic atmosphere to really fully enjoy it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 4
