Popular Post slowsmoke Posted September 29, 2019 Popular Post Posted September 29, 2019 This is from a quarter box off 24:24 several months ago. I still haven’t convinced myself that I need a box of these, but I do enjoy them and I am getting closer. The wrapper smelled spiced honey and wet barnyard. Tons of sheen, it was downright glistening in sun on this beautiful afternoon. The draw was too snug for my preference, but I decided to be optimistic and forge on without reaming. First puffs were nice medium roast coffee, hay, and twang. I was surprised to find twang so soon and so clearly. The coffee then fades quickly, and it’s all just hay and twang, with a really great sweetness on the finish reminding me a bit of a HDM petit robusto. Off to an excellent start. By the end of the first third, some black coffee returns, though it might just be because it was so good I was smoking fast and overheated it. Around the halfway point, some definite bitterness comes into the finish, not particularly nice. Still lots of hay, becoming more of a wet funky hay. The sweet and bitter are fighting on finish. And now the thing is starting to canoe pretty badly. Final third, a purge and touch up seem to have fixed the canoe. There is still some sweetness and pleasant flavors, but overall it has gotten muddy. The honey I hope for in Cohiba never materialized. By the time I put it down, it was pretty gnarly char and bitterness. Overall, I’ll rate this cigar Good. It started off Excellent, but slowly slid into average territory. Nonetheless, I do like these, they are a unique blend, not like any other Cohiba or Habanos I can think of. A great cigar in its own way. 6
joey rockets Posted September 30, 2019 Posted September 30, 2019 I went through 3 boxes of HUHC before deciding the size burned too fast. Granted, the Cohiba is a bit chubbier but for another $80 per box you can have the Robusto. I'm also the guy trying to swear off those fat ring gauges like Robusto?? 1
