Lant63 Posted August 26, 2019 Posted August 26, 2019 Nespresso pairing for the Punch PunchOctomore 7.3 and 8.1 for the Platino Punch PunchFirst third: Creamy wood, slightly chalky. Mild notes of vanilla long on the palate. White pepper and floral aspects through the nose Second third: Sweetwood intensifies. Umami charred mushroom develops in a delicious savory way. Black pepper and stronger floral notes through the nose. Final third: Seeetness has faded toasted French bread almonds and oak is present. No floral thorough the nose any longer. PlatinoReally, a beautiful specimen. Having smoked numerous of these prior I can say without any reservation that this cigar was a much better release than the punch gold medal for the UK. Also interesting to note that this is the only regional that was made in the exact same size as a current regular production cigar in the same Marca I did not take as many notes as I would’ve liked however overall I would say that the Pitino was much “dryer“ or, less sweet than the fresh punch punch. There were certain points during the second third of the cigar where some mild woody sweetness did show through however rich umami flavors roasted meats and nuts combined with intense floral notes with the retro were the theme throughout. I burned this cigar much further down compared to what I usually do as it was exceptional to the nub. Burn and draw were perfect throughout never a touch up needed. Very true to the marca in terms of flavor. 10 years has done this cigar well. I easily consider this one of my favorite regionals of all time. 97/100 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 4
