CampDelta369 Posted August 26, 2019 Posted August 26, 2019 Punch Punch A/T REG SEP 18 (PQWRC) Cold Aroma: Hay with slight barnyard. Construction appears good with light Colorado wrapper. De-tubed a few months back and placed in humidor. Dry boxed 3 days 1/3: Starts off with wood, leather and more earthy notes. Draw is excellent. Volume of smoke is excellent for this vitola. Very slight pepper on finish. Retro Hale is quite pleasant and the strength is a mild-medium. Ash is flaky and tips off at an inch. It’s a subtle first third would be a nice profile for a Sunday morning smoke. 2/3: This slow train continues into this third. No changes other than more toasty woods on the finish and occasionally a slight saltines on sides of tongue. Sometimes I am getting a nuttiness in the edges which may be an interplay of the Illy espresso roast I am enjoying. At halftime what this marca might lack in complexity definitely has in consistency. A trustworthy companion that would not distract me from a good book. Intensity picks up to medium- towards end of this third. I am smoking this fairly slowly. 3/3: getting occasional vegetal on the fringe but mostly intensity is at a medium on finish now. Some very minor touch ups so Burn has been excellent. Band came off easily on this one and no hard edges throughout. A slight twang at the end. Overall an enjoyable CC. This would make a great first timer intro marca and that’s not a negative. At 11 months it’s a 91 for me. Well done Mr. Punch 4
