Warm August evening by the fire, not for the heat but because it's nice to have a fire with what is probably my current favourite cigar.

PSP box so the wrapper is almost perfect, smooth and with a slight sheen - a delicate box press makes it comfortable in the hand.

On lighting the first impression through the firm but good draw is immediately of rich fruitiness - plums and damsons, slightly sweet but with a tart background. Although only a year and a half old this cigar tastes like something much much older, the edges are gone and it's all nicely rounded. Cedar and milky coffee underpin the fruit.

As the light fades I give up on reading Carlo Rovelli and just enjoy the cigar and the fire. Quantum Loop Theory is a bit heavy for this moment anyway.

The ash is firm and white, slightly speckled (he says as it falls off).

Into the second third and it's more of the same rather beguiling combination of flavours with a slight shift to leather. The burn line has been perfect throughout.

The size and feel of a corona gorda are just right, full on Goldilocks territory in the circumstances.

Into the final third and again no real change but it's a great cigar so I'm just enjoying it. Maybe a touch more of that leathery undertone and a hint of dark bitter chocolate but nothing to interfere too much with the amazing fruitiness that has been a characteristic of this whole box.

Excellent from start to reluctant finish.
