I have to forewarn people before they read. Monti 2 in general is my favorite cigar. Never had a bad one. Always draw, burn, flavor  and construction ( for me ) A to A+.

This one however was about a 78 pointer. All of the above was still spot on but flavors were off. Just off. No cream and amounts of small coffee. Chocolate ? slight. Just enough earth not present. Mostly burned tobacco just not really good.

I think I figured out why honestly. I used to keep my humi at about 68-70. Now over time i have brought it down to about 64-66. Then I usually drybox for a day to 7 depending on how my fingers tell me it is. Definitely not a perfect science for the last part but it works for me. In about 90% of the cigars I smoke it works much better. Flavors better burn etc. however for me Montecristo seems to dry at this RH and seems to thrive a little wetter. I’m my experience similar for JL 1 &2 as well and maybe this is why i don’t like SCDLH ?

just food for thought as I smoke this and am not thrilled but I think certain marcas needed higher RH to hit their stride.

Cheers and here’s to hoping for better smoke next time

I don't think I have ever had a good Monte 2, usually always plugged or burn issues. Funny, actually not funny, tragic how the quality controls varies so damn much with cuban cigars. Its unacceptable. But personally, I just have never had a NC that can match a good cuban, and I'm guessing that's why brings us all back
