Popular Post david9985 Posted July 26, 2019 Popular Post Posted July 26, 2019 My time with the Molinos is up: these were the last two sticks from a box I’ve had for a few years and thoroughly enjoyed. They were smoked with a mate following a round of golf at Sherwood Forest GC. It has been hot (30˚C) and humid this week and although the cigar had been stored at 62 RH, when I took it out of the travel case it had a spongey feel. My concerns proved unfounded when it lit and burned perfectly. The best of this box have been sugary: like something between candyfloss and crème brulee. There have been a handful of the 25 like that. This one was more typical of the majority in that the sugar profile was there but not as strong as the very best ones and mixed with a woodiness. Very pleasant. Construction and burn were excellent with no touch-ups required throughout for either of us. There was little change to the flavour over the course of the 45-minute smoke, save for a little bit of white pepper coming in and out after about halfway. The cigar still had another 10-15 minutes at least left in it but I set it down because my drink (OJ, had to try!) was done and it was time to hit the road. It is highly likely that I will not see another Molino again. These are beautifully sized smokes and I really did enjoy this box. I found them to be a reliable pick from the humidor when I didn’t fancy taking the risk of being disappointed. Flavours and burn were tasty and consistent and as mentioned above there was always the chance of a real cracker. This, like most of the box, was a 90. The best ones hit 94. A pleasure. For those interested in the golf element... Sherwood is in the Top 100 in England and a beautiful heathland course. It undulates through mature woodland and heather but what sets it apart is the quality of the greens. Most are large; all are fast but fair and all are in immaculate condition. There were next to no imperfections and even more surprisingly, no unrepaired pitch marks. Even having played a hole badly from tee to green, I found myself looking forwarding to the challenge of the green itself! Unlike the cigar (perhaps), to be visited again! Thanks! 6 1
