Popular Post Deeg Posted July 26, 2019 Popular Post Posted July 26, 2019 Note - this was a single purchased earlier this year from the host, so the year is a guess. Wrapper is on the lighter side of Colorado and on the thinner side. No big veins and no green spots. Much lighter shade than a JL #1 purchased at around the same time. Cold aroma was hay, barnyard and light cedar. That carried through to the palate, which was pretty consistent from start to finish. Some grassy notes, wood, a little coffee, light baking spice. Not a lot of change from first to last third - body increased from just below medium to medium. No burn issues, construction was impeccable. So, this was a nice cigar on the whole, but on balance it was a bit of a letdown because the Seleccion No 1 I smoked a couple of weeks ago (my first JL) was a cracker - a savory delight with lots of orange peel, salty notes and even meaty overtones. By contrast this cigar was a little muted on the palate and generally less complex. The #1 had a gorgeous dark Colorado wrapper and for once, the show pony won the race too. I’d go about 86/100 on this one. 5
