dragon Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 Wow.... Very cool looking place! I'll have to stop by sometime. :-)
hawkan2580 Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 Agreed.. very cool to find a place where you are allowed to sit and have a cupper and a cigar these days.. have to make a visit for sure..
mgillett Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 This place looks awesome. Unfortunately I am in Sydney :-( . Any idea if these places exist elsewhere? PS: Great forum, hope we can make the most of it by tapping into the depth of stogie knowledge out there.
culebra Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 Well done Filip! I had an El Rey Del Mundo Choix Supreme on the top deck at Paladar Fumidor Salon this morning as I read the paper and enjoyed a coffee. Outside of my home, I never dreamed it would be possible. Let us hope the fightback has begun!
GuyMcBeerdrinker Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 cool place. but I MUST have a sign of the cuban seal that you see on the ground in the second picture. how would I go about acquiring one of those?
HawaiiBill Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 VERY cool! I wish we had more of those type places in Hawaii. (Although,I should not complain since smoking outside where I live is also very nice!) PS-hey hawkan, nice to see you again. How are you?
First Lady Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 Hi GMBD :-D Filip must be one of the most finicky attention to detail person I have ever meet and has taken a good two years to put this all together. The sign you saw in the second photo of the seal was created by him. He slowly steamed the seal off a box and then got it photocopied until he acheived the desired size. (see what I mean about attention to detail ) If you could see the rest of the place it would take you a good hour to see all the little things that are placed in the shop. I think that all capital cities need one of these shops. But alas the Tobacco Nazis will always win :-( Hope this information helps The First Lady
kiwi cigar smoker Posted February 13, 2005 Posted February 13, 2005 Cool shop, I wish we could still smoke inside as it has been band by the smoking police a few month's ago , no smoking anywere!!all pubs bars, cafes you name it:-( So be warned If you come to NZ Look's like I'll have to come over to OZ and check the place out one day.:-)
Diselfitter Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 Very Nice Shop .. Congrats on the opening... I got to admit.. I am a lot Jealous... There is nothing here like that....I wish there was... Hell I would have to get a lap top and do my posting from there........D I think the Closet I can get to what you got, is here in my Home. Once the weather is warmer, I can sit out on the back Patio, with a cup of fresh roasted and Brewed Coffee, Great Cigar, and a news paper...
mikeav Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 Well done Fil, I've been driving past occasionally and watching progress since you first told me about your project. Now I'd better stop in! Cheers Mike » At a time when the friendless, funless, sexless, tofu eating, green tea » drinking fun Nazi's continue their blitzkrieg roll across the planet...one » man has has stood fearlessly to staredown the armies of » boredom.
Freefallguy Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 Exquisite shop Filip, very cool. A definite stop on my next foray down under. Good to see a bastion of sanity when the Tobacco Nuts have run amok… is anyone else aware that the smoking ban has now extended it's virulent grip onto the shores of, all places, Cuba?! Yep, it came across the telly Sunday evening... smoking has now been banned in all public places in Cuba. :-( Unbelievable… say it isn't so El Presidente, say it isn't so!
dragon Posted October 13, 2005 Author Posted October 13, 2005 Haven't stopped by yet......hope he is doing well!
jay8354 Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 » This place looks awesome. Unfortunately I am in Sydney :-( . Any idea if » these places exist elsewhere? » Agreed. There aren't many places like that in Sydney that you can sit, have a drink and a cigar. The ones that do allow it are either: You have to eat in the restaurant first. You are not able to relax because of the crowds. or The prices of the drinks are a killer just so you can relax, not have to order a meal and have a cigar. If you manage to find something special, the Tobacco police will then come after you...
GoatLocker Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Wow, nice place! Wish we had something like that here in San Diego, but with anti-smoking laws getting stricter, not likely. Pretty soon, I'll be hauled to jail for smoking on my back porch...
JMH Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Why are there so many good places to smoke in Brisbane and not Sydney :-( I mean it's like Brisbane is even a real city. It's in queensland after all :-P
strayvector Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Wow...what a great place...and here's me thinking that the local shop was cool.
skid11 Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Great News :-) :-) :-) I'm proud to be a Queenslander, can't wait to get out of my shed and head into the big smoke and have a big smoke It's always good to raise the profile of the art of cigar smoking and not have it lumped in with all the cigarette puffing masses (no offensive intended) I took up cigar smoking quite late in life, if you call 45 years old late, but don't smoke cigarettes. Is this the norm for most cigar smokers? I also indulge in the Wine habit and read a few magazines (of which Ken Gargett is a writer) and wonder why Cigar advertising is not allowed in this type of publication. Good Wine, coffee, cigars, cafes and conversation..............viva la revolution brothers.;-)

They accept murder over there better than smoking.
herfkid Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 That place rocks! Now, why can't there be something like that where I live ... ? Oh, wait. Ah well, another place to go when I eventually get to visit Australia.
thschrminm Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 WOW... Really nice place for a cigar aficionado to light one up and enjoy a nice cup of espresso... Not many places here in Los Angeles that can offer an ambience like that... Good luck and I hope that your business prospers for it provides a great escape from the norm...
Loki Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Nice place and Good Luck in your endeavor. Screw the damn smoking Nazis.
Maverick Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 This place looks cool. It is a shame that I only work around the corner on Montague road. How is he getting around the whole smoking indoors ruling that is in place now? Ross...
