Popular Post CaptainQuintero
I very nearly grabbed a solitary Molinos for this but wasn't particularly feeling a larger cigar so this made it nice and easy. Draw was quite tight but a few twists with a generic cigar poker off eBay and everything eased off. Quite a tangy cold draw; generally I don't really get much beyond cold tobacco so that's significant for me. Bit of a breeze so lighting took a tad longer than usual and smoke production wasn't huge. Flavours however were right to the fore; rich young leather, cream, cedar and just a touch of salt. Now these aren't the evolution powerhouses of the Molinos and they don't carry the rustic dark chocolate of them either, but they are decent unique sticks that provides something pretty unusual compared to the rest of Cuba's offerings. Second third and not a huge amount of change. Mostly the same but that tangy cold draw has really come to the forefront in the leather. Bit of sweetness but it's a subtle and soft hint, no sugar hit here. Final third and again mostly more of the same. Bit of over ripe blueberry jumps in and out towards the end but nothing much else. Nice little cigar but it begs the question why did Cuba cut the Molinos and keep these and the even milder Belicosos? That's like deleting everything Partagas but keeping the Petit Corona Especial. 85/100 decent but nothing that's going to keep your attention. Firmly in the yard/book cigar category for me. Wasn't the best example I've had, if you get a big chocolate aroma from a cold box then you're usually in for a much better experience.
