After the failed Reyes this morning, I decided to give Trinidad one more go when a nice window opened up in the afternoon.  Settled in to catch up on some F1.

Wrapper smelled like straight caramel, so good, I could have sat there for ten minutes with it under my nose.  It is toothy and bumpy.

Clipped, and of course the damn thing is tight.  Way too tight.  I break out the perfecdraw, and have to go much deeper than I am comfortable with just to get a decent draw.  The thing pulls out a long stem in the process.  It is still too tight for my preference, but onward we go.  Graham cracker cold draw still has me excited.

First puffs are a salty, cool cream.  Really unexpected and really nice.  This turns into a salty milk coffee that is excellent.  The first third shows some peanuts, mostly salted, but occasionally I get a hint of honey roasted nuts.  Some caramel on the finish.

Salt continues to be the focus, to the point that it almost tastes like the cap of the cigar was dipped in something salty and savory, it is all over the tip of my tongue.  

I get a phone call, lose track of the flavors, and let it go out.  After the relight it is mostly black coffee, a little peanut, into the last third.

The final third is so good, hearty, salty, just keeps making me come back for more.  A bit of mocha.  Finally some pepper as I remove the band, and decide to call it a day.  If the draw had been lighter, I think this would have been exponentially better.

These are very special cigars, and I have had better ones than this, but I still haven't been wowed enough to splurge on a box.  I will probably cave eventually, but for now I'm happy just having a few on tap.
