Popular Post Wailbait Posted May 5, 2019 Popular Post Posted May 5, 2019 I rarely smoke cigars that aren’t at least 6 months old but I hd such a great time with my La Punta that I was curious how much DNA this little piramides shared. Right off the bat, I’ll just say it’s darn pretty. Construction and cold draw are spot on. When clipped, the draw was a bit tight so I ended up clipping off more of the pyramid than I normally do. First half: Lovely but certainly no resemblance to the SCDLH profile. Very little sweetness and very little pancake. There are baking spice notes like cinnamon and nutmeg. Construction is great though and smoke production and burn are very consistent. Second half: Great flavor transition. Got stronger but much more complex. I also enjoyed watching the cigar burn. Lovely room note. Didn’t taste as young as it actually was. Very impressive. This cigar was a gift so I can’t really comment on whether or not it’s “worth it” but if it were near the price of a Punta, it would be a neat alternative. If it were super expensive, I might pause. This brings me to one final point. I don’t have a ton of experience but I have observed that some of the LCDH releases bear little resemblance to the flavor profile of the brand. I’m looking at you, Punch 48.... If I were to guess blindly, I would have guessed it was an Upmann not an SCDLH. 5
