Popular Post Akela3rd Posted May 5, 2019 Popular Post Posted May 5, 2019 Certain cigars prompt the mind in a direction before you've even lit up. With the El Principe I always immediately think of sweetness, specifically the sweetness found in the kitchen. I took the opportunity to have this particular one whilst sorting out some charcloth for a firelighting session I'm running next weekend. This explains the increasingly grubby fingers in the pictures below. It's a fine looking little cigar with a nice sheen and caramel coloured wrapper. The cold draw is, as ever, slightly sweet and rich. V cut.The first third is dominated by a dark and not overly sweet sugar base overlaid with milky coffee. Bloody lovely. This is what I hope for when I reach for one of these. I enjoy the BCJ and Shorts but the El Principe fits the bill perfectly today, falling somewhere inbetween the other two to my mind.Second third brings more of the same, building slightly in strength and upping the coffee content a touch. Slight wobble on the burn, but nothing to worry about. I've got a hoppy ale on the go with this BTW and it's a great match.Final third and again nothing much has changed, just consistently flavourful, well behaved and tasty. A little peppery at the end as it finishes too soon. Might have to have another one... Sent from 47171 Lempo 7
