Popular Post Bucky McSwensen Posted May 5, 2019 Popular Post Posted May 5, 2019 Got a good deal on these a while back and have been sitting on them since. I really like the el principe and have some beautiful looking and smelling la punta (too young to try). These have about 1.5 years of age on them so I figured it was worth a shot to review. Light tan wrapper. Not much oil but beautiful smooth construction. Lit this up after breakfast. I was expecting the typical san cristobal flavor of pancakes and syrup, but they are not here. Still very enjoyable flavors of cedar, light pepper, some mild flashes of sweetness and cinnamon but only fleeting. Second third doesnt evolve too much. Smooth bready toast flavors and some good but standard tobacco. Very smooth. This is a very light cigar. Lots of proper smoke output but each hit leaves me with a dry mouth feel. Final third loses the toast and sticks to a standard smooth tobacco flavor. Black pepper kicks in with white pepper on the retrohale. Continues to be smooth the rest of the way. Not a bad smoke but it didn't meet my expectations of sweet maple breakfast flavors. I dont know much about these, or aging in general, but I hope it will develop over time. Maybe I just have a dud box, but hopefully it has potential. Anyone with experience in aging these please give me validation to hang tight or prepare me to just enjoy as they are. Scoring I'd value this cigar at $9.00 Cuba rating = 1.06 Purchase rating = 1.03 (Ratings are based on a ratio of value/cost. 1.00 means I value it the same as it cost. Less means it wasn't worth a purchase. More means it was a deal. 5
