Popular Post FatPete Posted March 24, 2019 Popular Post Posted March 24, 2019 Sunny dry windy weather so time for a walk in the countryside with this du Prince. Paired it with a can of German wheat beer. Hoyo de Monterrey du Prince Mareva 5.1” x 40 ring gauge SOM JUN 16 Stored for a year at 63RH 18C Mid-brown rustic wrapper with nice oil. Stick slightly bent from a depression at the start of the last third. Aroma at cold sweet cedar & tobacco Construction feels perfect Cold draw:snug, taste is just tobacco. First third Peppery spice on first puff mixed with aromatic coffee. Pepper fades and settles into a creamy black coffee with a little cedar wood in background. These are strong defined flavours, and the body is over medium. Must have a reasonable amount of nicotine as I can feel my heartbeat increase. Second third Creaminess has gone, its like I’m drinking an unsweetened espresso now. This is a cigar to have if you want something to wake you up! Last third Up to full body woah- looking for a bench to sit down on ! More woodsy now, not just cedar, maybe oak. Black coffee and a new leather taste mix come in second. No harshness or bitterness even at the end of this cigar. I now have a burnt thumb, but this one I just had to nub. Smoking time- 1 1/2 hours Conclusion:Not even a hint of sweetness since the first third but I thoroughly enjoyed this cigar. It was strong and flavoursome, and the way I would expect habanos of old to have smoked. Maybe a few more years would let the sweetness & cream develop, but I’m not sure I would want that as this is the only cigar in my collection that smokes this way. Going to give it a 93. PS...this is the 3rd du Prince review I can see so far this weekend-all quite different experiences. 7
Perla Posted March 24, 2019 Posted March 24, 2019 Thanks for the review. I love Review weekends. "Same" cigars different experience.
Jbhunter223 Posted March 24, 2019 Posted March 24, 2019 Good review. I had a ‘16 Du Prince last weekend and it kept the sweetness to the end. I’m with @Perla, I like the same cigar different experience reviews.
bigguccisosa Posted March 24, 2019 Posted March 24, 2019 Great review. Didn't expect such a long burn time.
