Cohiba Robusto BTO SEP 13 (CWRC)

Cohiba Robusto from 2013. This box has been good to me, but the selected cigar feels a little tightly packed. Nice pungent aroma pre-light.

Draw is impenetrable. First 5 minutes spent ramming the draw fixer tool down its throat to get some airflow through this cement mixer. Begin to daydream of last weekend’s much cheaper PSD4. Got it loosened up but flavors still seem muted by the tight draw and possibly exacerbated by the humidity outside (it’s raining). Might not have been the best choice of a stick for tonight.

Begin the second third by dumping the ash on myself. A couple more rams of the draw tool and a fresh clip of the cap and we’re starting to get somewhere. Took a break to pour some Four Roses bourbon. Flavors are muted and maybe it’s too humid out with the rain. But the draw has finally opened up and some Cohiba grassiness and citrus is starting to come through.

Finally we're getting somewhere. Smoke volume opens up, typical Cohiba notes start to shine through, and I wish I'd met this cigar an hour ago. 

Conclusion:

The last 1/3 doesn't offset the first 2/3, and I wish I went to the bullpen early on. Oh well, can't win 'em all. Total smoke time about 1:20.

Nice review. Sorry to hear the start was a tad painful. Pictures show the wrapper looking pretty good. Guess the old adage of 'can't judge a book by it's cover' was relevant

I think the rain and humidity got me, but for what it's worth she put up a valiant effort and burned evenly down to the end. All in all I'll give it an 8/10. 6 for the cigar and 10 for the fact that the girls were sleeping at 8pm on a Saturday night in the first place.
