Popular Post Islandboy Posted February 24, 2019 Popular Post Posted February 24, 2019 @THEMISCHMAN made me do it! After reading his excellent review, I couldn’t resist. This is one of my favorite full-flavored cigars in the humidor, and the first box of Bolivars I ever purchased on what was likely their final showing on 24:24. So glad I did. Not only is it a tasty stick that comes in handy on-the-go packaging, the box is also quite stunning to gaze upon. It’s a gorgeous Hawaiian day of sunshine and moderate temps, although the trades are a bit breezy at times, but not so windy as to get the way of things. The cigar is a lovely hue with a distinct smell of leather. Giving it the squeeze test, it feels perfect - not too hard, not too soft. I punch the end and the draw is spot on. The first third is dank and earthy with a bit of pepper on the retro hale. Right away I notice very distinct notes of coffee, sandalwood and caramel on the aroma - very nice! In the second third the earthiness becomes more of a leather note, and the pepper on the retro hale is all but gone. I also start tasting some nuttiness, with some sort of fig-like fruit flavor wilting in and out. The burn is perfection, and the ash is quite dark. The final third is still full-flavored but smoothes out a bit, with no pepper present - just a constant barrage of interesting things like leather, fig, nuts, cocoa, sandalwood and licorice. A wonderful cigar. Perhaps the highlight was the spiced coffee and caramel on the aroma. It remained throughout and added a wonderful element to the overall experience. I’ll rate this a 93, and with half a box left, if I can restrain myself a bit, I'm betting these will become 95-96 smokes in just a few more years. Aloha All! 5
RDB Posted February 24, 2019 Posted February 24, 2019 Interesting, also with a very dark ash! Thanks for the nice review.
MigsG Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 That was a great review, and nice photos to boot. I've been thinking about the Tubos, 1, 2, and 3, currently available at certain vendors. Given the choice of just one box, would you go with the #1, #2, or #3?

I’ve never had a #2 or #3, so can’t speak to any flavor differences. I do like the size of the #1 over the others, it’s about a 1 hour smoke if I take my time. 1
