Balut

A delicacy

I married a Filipina and sadly these are a common occurrence. However they prefer the balut pinoy variant, where the chick is significantly less developed. I believe the difference is pinoy is boiled at 14 days where the balut pictured is boiled at 18 days.

Lol I like to kill my food before I attempt to eat it

Has anyone had rocky mountain oysters? My dad got me to try it, without even thinking about it. I thought I had heard the name before, so I asked him what it was....he said try it first. Well, ok....

I'll let you guys google it.

Not as bad as the balut though

I've had them once and I have to be honest, I really enjoyed them! I was in Australia in 2008 and spent a few days on a farm just north of Brisbane - the owner taught us how to castrate a bull and instead of wasting the byproduct, we tossed them on the grill and ate them. Very gamey and salty, but not bad at all! They called them 'prairie oysters' there, though. I'd try them again!

I had mine in Texas, and of course, they were breaded and fried...so yeah, not bad. With a homemade ranch dipping sauce, I believe? This is at the stock yards in ft worth.
