Below are some tips that I have compliled for shipping your cigars to your fellow BOTL.

Mailing Supplies

You can order mailing supplies from the USPS by visiting the link below. They offer boxes and envelopes of all sizes and best of all, the USPS Supplies are FREE!!!!

Packing

Take the cigars that you are shipping and place the ones that do not have cellophane on them in a 2X8 “Reclosable Bag”.

Once I have all my cigars in cellophane or Reclosable Bags, I them place them in a 6X8 “Reclosable Bubble Bag”.

[LINK=http://www.veripack.com/Product/dept.asp?dept%5Fid=11224&DeptPath%5Fid=140%2C+1380%2C+11224&ClickedSku=yes&sku=03%2D0608&searched=true&RequestImageFile=prod&HeaderName=Reclosable+Bubble+Bags]Link: 6X8 Reclosable Bubble Bags (03-0608)[/LINK]

Now all you have to do is drop them in a video cassette sized Priority Mail Box and you are set to go.

Shipping

You can go on to the USPS website and calculate shipping costs as well as print out pre-paid labels to place on your packages if you so desire. They will even pick these packages up from you home so you don’t even have to leave the house to do this. You can also pay for the postage and drop off your package at your local USPS office if you prefer. Also, if you print shipping labels online, you will get a FREE Delivery Confirmation number.

So if your sending a bomb, selling some sticks or just working up a trade, this guide should help your cigars arrive safely while making things easier on you.

ENJOY!!! :ok:

None of the links work for me. "404 error, page not found" or something like that.

I have used the USPS process and it it's great. The shipping supplies (boxes) are free and you can print your own paid-for labels at their online site. tmos turned me on to that a year ago and I've used that process a ton!

Apparently scales are no longer free. They are 34.95 for the 5lb and 39.95 for the 10lb scale. Also, they are on backorder. :(

I hear ya Greg.

BTW, I'd add that I use aluminum foil as an added precaution against drying out.

Pardon my ignorance, but how is Aluminum foil going to prevent them from drying out?

Aluminum foil, assuming it has no pinholes or tears, will present an absolute barrier to the transmission of moisture and oxygen. If you build a pouch and make sure to seal the edges well, almost no moisture will get in or out.

This is the principle behind some heat-seal packaging and also aluminum soda pop cans.

Simple polyethylene (or polythene for you Brit-types ;)) rather freely allows oxygen and moisture vapor to transpire across the thickness of the film.
