thedame007
So in light of this weekends generous competition from @El PresidenteI decided to put one of my six remaining San Cristóbal Oficios (EMA JUL 07) to the fire. First of all, i must say this had one of the most beautiful coloured wrappers I have had the pleasure to incinerate; a deep chocolate with a shimmering red hue to it. 1/3 - The cigar is straight out of the gates with a wonderful cinnamon spice, and a creamy smoke that coats the mouth (no sniggering at the back!). 2/3 - Woodier notes are coming to the fore, adding to the spice, and surprisingly the aftertaste has leather notes. 3/3 - BINGO, the money shot, a mouthwatering sweetness (maple?) comes out of nowhere, and the cinnamon comes back into it's own. This seriously made me struggle to lay this cigar to rest, and joins only a handful of other's that have left me with sore fingers, and a heavy heart. Final thoughts - if this period did indeed leave many in the global Cuban cigar community with a clammy brow, they may now sleep easier at night knowing that age has not diminished this cigar, if anything it has refined it, and brought more discernible tasting notes. The sad news is, that given the above, the five remaining are not going to get much more dust on them, indeed they have had their last Christmas!
