Spanning Time: A good 5-cent cigar

 

A good article with some excellent photo's. 

You know when you think you have done something, and then find out that you have not done it at all.  It’s a bit like that dream where you go to school and find out there is a big test that day and you didn’t know it (okay, maybe that was just my dream).  I was sure that I had written about the cigar industry.  I have touched on it in many pieces but realized that I never truly described how Binghamton became number two in the country for the manufacture of cigars, or how this area turned out 100 million cigars a year for a time.

Interesting read. I love those old historical factory photos. Everyone is smartly turned out for work. A different era, indeed.
