Happy Birthday Prez Review Competition: MUL Feb 15 Montecristo Edmundo

This is the last stick from this box...and I hate to admit it, but it’s the last Monte in my humidor.

I’ve only been delving into CC’s for less than 2 years now, and this box was one of my earliest (pre FOH) acquisitions. Burning through all 25 has been a bit of a roller coaster ride - some have had me convinced I need more of this, while others have left me thinking otherwise. I remember well completely chucking one that failed miserably in all aspects. This, the final hurrah, is magnificent.

At 3 years old, it’s as if something magically occurred with the milestone. A newfound smoothness of delivery, a razor sharp burn, an orchestra of flavors in all the right proportions - molten milk chocolate, coffee bean, a touch of vanilla, and even a tad bit of citrus on the retro hale. Quite spectacular.

In my sophomore year of enjoying CC’s, I find myself constantly questioning the value of aging, wondering what payoff to expect. After all, I’ve been thoroughly enjoying the vibrant flavors of certain very young sticks - Connie A’s, HdM DC’s, RyJ Churchills, to name a few. Although hardly considered aged, this 3 year old Edmundo, the last of the box, is certainly by far the finest. Not exactly sure how to explain it, but it is. And it is, without a doubt, leaving me wanting more.

Oh and, no, this isn’t an officially announced competition, I just wanted to make the natives restless . And to wish El Presidente a Happy Birthday!!!
