First third progresses with hay and vanilla in the palate the finish is quite long. Strength is rather mild.

Portwood dominates the palate but the fruit notes play as a nice contrast to the roasted pecans and carmel from the cigar.

The Maderia has vanilka notes that match seamlessly in stride with this PL. Through the nose I start to get vanilla and nugat from the cigar

Near perfect burn and a great draw.

Strength picks up some, and with it butter pecans. A couple of strong draws brings sweet wood into the act, this progresses to burnt sugar. Not a bad aspect in the slightest. It works well with the other flavors.

Ash falls right at the beginning of the second third this opens into wood and floral notes. There's a shift and fullness from light to medium at this point as well. Sweet vanilla develops again along with almonds. This progresses throughout this third to a darker caramel with hay. Similar in flavor to earlier but with increased strength. As this continues there is floral, very reminiscent of a LGC mdo no 2.

As the second third closes there is a slight bitterness but this exits very quickly.

The final third brings the need for a slight touch up as I ran inside for a moment. There is darker wood here still very sweet. The caramel is present for most of this portion too. As a detractor there isn't very much development in this third other than the strength which is full now. The finish is very long with rich flavors as previously mentioned no new flavors enter at this point.

Overall I thought this was an exceptional cigar. One example of a superior regional edition. A por larranaga in a robusto extra size would be a great addition to the portfolio.

The drink pairings were lovely and the both of them worked as a nice contrast between each other.

Rating 93.5

The first third was nearly perfect, but the cigar took a slight step back in the second and no real progression in flavor of the final third hurt it the most. I wish I had more.
