CNY review Montecristo Dantes EL 2016 SUM OCT 16

This was my first Dantes, I was wanting to let these sit for a while in the humidor as I have heard they were quite peppery fresh. Not that I don't like pepper as I do smoke Nica (tatuaje) cigars, but I don't seem to appreciate it as much in a Cuban for some strange reason.

This cigar had excellent construction and was firmly packed. Nice dark milk chocolate wrapper with some sheen.

I paired with a flying monkeys limited edition chocolate stout.

The cigar smoked very well albeit in -8C weather. I only had to touch it up a few times. No I wasn't directly outside, was in my garage with my heat dish.

The flavours were all milk chocolate with a touch of cream. I didn't pick up much more than that, but I am not the greatest at picking out all these different notes. The body definitely picked up in the final third to a medium-full.

Great cigar that I think will age nicely. Age should help to bring out a little more complexity.

Great cigar that I think will age nicely. Age should help to bring out a little more complexity.

 

I wholly agree with you, I have enjoyed all my Dantes so far and are happy to keep a stash for aging. As time passes they get better ... :-)
