SOFLO88 Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 I didnt say anything recent for UFC and since Im fairly new here, I wasnt sure if we have any UFC fans so lets get into it. Currently, we have UFC 218 this weekend, a stacked card. WHO DO YOU GOT ON THE MAIN CARD: HOLLOWAY VS ALDO: OVEREEM VS NGANNOU: CAJUDO VS PETTIS ALVAREZ VS GAETHJE TORRES VS WATERSON I'm going with Aldo for the win with redemption hopefully on his mind making sure he doesnt gas out. Im thinking Overeem and his experience takes the win against the young Ngannou. Cajudo vs Pettis is a tough call since they both are great fighters. On Alvarez vs Gaethje, Alvarez can win all depending on which Alvarez decides to show up on Saturday. If we have the confident Alvarez from before his last no contest and loss from Conor then we may have a very good matchup. Otherwise, I see Gaethje winning easy. Lastly we have the Karate Hottie vs Torres the Tiny Tornado, both are excellent fighters, Torres is fast but Michelle the Karate Hottie is a well rounded fighter who I think will end up taking the win. Who do you guys have? 2
feral Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 My picks: Holloway because Aldo has considered retiring. If you have one foot out you should get all the way out. It would be a nice redemption story though. Ngannou by tko Overeem's chin is shotCejudo by superior skill setAlvarez by skill over strengthWaterson by decision
cigcars Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 Hello there, fellow UFC fan! I'm generally a bad predictor of who's likely to win (thank God I don't gamble, huh!?) But I do know who I suspect will win - and who I'd like to win: ' Love Eddie Alvarez and hope he's the winner I think Ngannou will win over Alistaire Overeem - been a little questionable in his winning abilities lately Holloway and Aldo - it's anybody's guess...but I think Jose Aldo might clear it. I'm sure since his loss to Connor McGregor he's been working on his speed! I'm always a fan of "The Karate Hottie" Michele Waterson. So I'm rooting for her For Cejudo and Sergio Pettis - I'm thinking it's just my familial sympathies toward "Showtime" Pettis' younger brother! And may the best fighter win!!!

But like @cigcars said... it's a good thing I don't gamble either. Just hoping their all good fights. UFC Pittsburgh from September.... one of the better series of fights I've seen in a while. Must have been something like 8 of 11 fights ending in knockouts.
SOFLO88 Posted December 1, 2017 Author Posted December 1, 2017 Hell Yes ! I have some fellow UFC fans ! Welcome ! @feral @cigcars @HavanaSunday I agree with you @cigcars I love Eddie Alvarez, I’m just worried he hasn’t fought well in a while. I want him to win but I see gaethje winning. And as far as Aldo vs Holloway your right. I think Aldo has improved and I’m sure he’s gone back and watched his last fight with Holloway but then Holloway is just a tactical fighter. He plans before he executes in the fight and catches eat points so it’s gonna be interesting for sure. I see what you mean @feral And I can really see either Ngannou or Overeem winning, Ngannou is young and he’s going with the purpose of proving a point but Overeem even off gear has fought pretty damn well and has surprised me in the past. Yeah I don’t gamble on them either @HavanaSunday. I’m loyal to certain fighters so even when I know my fighter isn’t going to fair well, I couldn’t bring myself around to bidding against them. So I’d be purposely losing money.. and thanks for sharing the great picture 1
feral Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 Well how was THAT for a card? Holloway gives us an encore performance. He overwhelmed Aldo. I think Aldo gasses because he depletes himself too much to get down to 145 lbs and age catches everyone.Gutsy brawl from Alvarez and Gaethje . Gaethje is an entertaining beast but that style is just too reckless. He takes too many shots because he trusts his chin too much *faceplant* Overeem v Ngannou went how I hoped. I always enjoy watching him get switched OFF. That one was a perfect 10. He stuck the landing. Seized up, toes pointed, zero splash haha. Cejudo dominated at wrestling. That seems to bore some fans but I appreciated it. Torres was a tiny brutal tornado. Waterson got a whoopin. I thought she could control the spacing and pace of the fight with her kicks and combos. Boy was I wrong. I wonder if it's a conditioning issue. Or is it just the level of competition? Or am I just not being appreciative enough of tiny tank bringing the pace ? Thoughts? 1
SOFLO88 Posted December 4, 2017 Author Posted December 4, 2017 @feral That card was amazing. A great night for sure. Holloway was not who I was rooting for to win. I was really thinking Aldo wouldve learned from his past mistakes. Aldo was still throwing all these hard strikes and depleting himself. He was going for the finish and not thinking long term. What I noticed is that, if Aldo wouldve went for body shots with those power punches, he wouldve had a better chance at eliminating Holloways stamina a bit and of couse more leg kicks. Maybe a knee to Holloways face. But it was a good fight. My favorite was the Gaethje / Alvarez fight, they really deserved fight of the night. Just the fact that they went blow for blow until someone fell. And your right, he relied on his chin too much. But we havent seen Alvarez fight like that in so long it was great for him to be that guy again. Overeem v Ngannou was unexpected for me. I thought Overeem would be smarter than to leave himself exposed. I dont think we've seen Ngannou's ground game. He shouldve taken him to the ground. But hats off to Ngannou. ANd yeah Cejudo was a little slow but he was fighting smart so you cant blame him for that. Torres did exactly what I thought and really messed up karate hottie. I dont think it was a conditioning issue. I dont think she was prepared for Torres to have such power. She used her strength more than anything. Whether it was defense on the ground or striking while standing. It was a great night. Now for the Dec 30th card !!
