I think you should adjust your expectations downward especially if you plan on smoking one immediately. You've got an excellent selection on the way and they will benefit from some downtime to acclimatize to their new surroundings. Who knows. I'm certainly no expert but for me, smoking cigars ROTT yields predictably poor results. Yet I still try it every once in a while to see if that rule changes.

My overall expectations with boxes are that some cigars will be good but won't particularly stand out. Some cigars will be nice enough to make me question whether I should have purchased another box. if I'm lucky there will be a few from that same box that are simply amazing and I will look at the cigar in my hand in utter disbelief that a cigar could be this good. I often wonder if that's the hook that keeps me coming back. If they were all ethereal, would I get bored with them? Would it be the new normal?

When my luck runs the other way, there will be a few that are plugged, underfilled etc. Fortunately, I've been on a lucky streak for a while now.

If I have a less than stellar experience with a cigar, I'll put the under performing box/cab away and try it again in a year. Rinse and Repeat. I've got a cab of Epi 2's from '07 that only recently turned the corner.

Good luck with your Journey!

Great point. I am thinking that the gates of heaven will open and I will know great peace with every puff. Probably need to knock that off.

As someone who did have the gates of heaven open with their first Cuban, I can tell you this was both a blessing and a curse.  While that first cigar was heaven sent, I expected every cigar that followed to offer the same experience and the grim reality is that that will never be the case.  Having your expectations high is the easiest way to turn a good cigar into an average one.  I know that this comment was probably made in jest, but it is something that a lot of people get caught up in at the beginning.

That is kinda where I am. I think this is going to be the greatest experience in the world ever. I think I need to stop thinking so much. I really am going to put them down for a bit. I have a sampler coming that I'm assuming is aged and more ready to smoke than the order I have coming from Rob. Just really excited about holding a real Cuban in my hand. I'm sure I'll get over it some day. I think
