cobra Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 I was wondering what the utility is of the draw machines being used at the rollers tables. Are they used to check the quality/consistency of the roller at random or do they stay at the table for the roller to check his own work? It would seem that the rollers/supervisors have been at this their entire life and could tell a tight cigar if it was dropped on the floor without any stinkin machine.
El Presidente Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 There are always plenty of young rollers coming through the factories. The draw machines test a % of product each day and it is used to identify problems with specific rollers who are then taken aside and the problem addressed one on one. There are still other checks made on Quality however draw had been identified in 2001/2002 as the No 1 issue. Trust me...it is a step forward.
guilow Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Lately, it seems like the guys rolling Boli PCs have lost there draw machine. Seems like every 4th one is really tight.

kab55 Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 I've noticed that fair number of the recent Boli PC's are tight also.

spsurfin Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 The over reaction from the tight draw ’01-’02 to the under filled cigars in ’03 maybe worse. I am in favor of step forward they make to produce consistently filled cigars.
Ken Gargett Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 the machines are not at the table - they are off in a separate room and each roller has his/her cigars taken to it (at least in the factories where i have seen it in operation). they say that every cigar is checked - i have grave doubts about this. i simply can't see the logistics working, unless they have another 30 rooms full of draw machines hidden away. so i believe that what they are doing is a random check, and probably keep a closer eye on those who transgress and the newer rollers. no doubt some get through but things are better than they were. perfect example - the siglo vi's i have reviewed a few times. they have been briilliant so far and then the one yesterday tight as... like two hours sucking on a rock.
