Vegas Robaina has eluded me throughout most of my 20+ years of cigar smoking. I have smoked 2 or 3 Unicos, but that is all. Recently I acquired a box of these Famosos on FOH. The first two I smoked did not impress me, they were a bit rough, possibly due to sick period, but more likely due to my taste buds being colored. I wanted to like this cigar, it looks absolutely great and I have read how much some members like them, so I keep trying.

In the looks department this cigar is nearly flawless in every respect. The wrapper is dark and expertly applied, with minimal veins, and resembles a dark chocolate bar. The draw was perfect, feel and filling seemed spot on. In the construction and looks department I have to score this cigar a 10/10. 

Early flavors was rich and earthy, with a solid toasted tobacco core and hints of coffee and cocoa. The aroma was also solid tobacco at its core, with a bit of a smoldering damp grass. Burn was nearly perfect, wavering slightly now and then but I nit pick.

Second half was very much like the first, there is not much more beyond solid toasted tobacco throughout, with cocoa and coffee weaved through it sparingly. Although somewhat one-dimensional, it is nonetheless satisfying and filling.

On my personal scale I rate this a 7.5/10, a good cigar but not one that I would rave about, just a solid fulfilling cigar.

Nice job, and I agree - it's a solid cigar, with good flavours, but definitely not overwhelming by any means.
