jmg Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 Partagas have been hit or miss for me, especially the SD4 and SD5. sometimes they are wonderful and sometimes they let me down. But i think my 2013 boxes are turning around for the better. 1st draw hits me with the all too familiar partagas spice. Medium toasted tobacco and then that sweet paprika that Prez always talks about slithers through. This 1st third is what got me anticipating that my '13 boxes had turned for the better. 2nd third and I'm getting a dark bread One of those grain heavy breads. Tobacco flavors come forward and the paprika is subsiding to the back end. Partagas spice is light throughout. Great burn and good smoke output. 3rd third and I'm hit with a few draws of chocolate. Love that hit and reminds me of Monte. I get excited because I'm having a good PSD5 and start puffing faster. Totally my fault and the cigar gets bitter for a few. Let it rest and finish it out. The burn towards the end got a bit wavy but I blame that on myself. Good cigar that needed 3 years to gain consistancy. I bought this box when I first started moving over to CCs and wanted a fuller CC, comparable to NCs. Now that I dont smoke as often and prefer mid bodied cigars, these arent in my regular rotation but I'm glad to have em. 3
TheMonk Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 Nice job, and I agree, they do tend to need more then a bit of ageing. 1
