... when you can buy a broken one for $50 and it actually works better as a humidor, this does not seem like much of a bargain!!! :rotfl:

(Forgive me folks, humidor maker humor going on over here!!!)

...."works better"...I don't quite understand?

How will the "broken one" keep the interior temp at 65F when the room temp is 78F??....how much extra does one need to spend to make that happen?

Just saying...and no need for an encyclopedic response....just a quick one..

My friend, I never argue with someone who is happy with their humidor, I help those who are unhappy. So the question is, are you happy? If you are happy, I am happy!!! Therefore, no explanation is necessary.

If one cannot see the humor in my original comment, and it requires a snarky retort regarding my prolific writing for the benefit of others, I believe an encyclopedic response or otherwise won't help them much!

I think that was short enough... yes? -Ray

I'm with ya Ray and I'm absolutely ecstatic with my winedor performance and yes...thanks for your very short response.

There are hundreds if not thousands of guys using a winedor setup with great results and over the long term.  All I hoped to do was to help out someone on the fence about spending $250 and point out a real bargain.  I believe your $50 solution, even in jest, is a less desirable option than say a $65 coleman extreme cooler which, having much better insulating properties than using a "broken" winedor (as you suggest) would be of more service to someone looking to store their stash without regard to temperature control.

Now of course if you were personally selling a retrofit temperature control solution for that broken $50 winedor for the $150 they'd be saving - then you should have stated that clearly - that your temp controls + $50 broken winedor yields a better solution to the $199 new winedor....

Enjoy your weekend....it's a gorgeous fall day here in NY, I'm certainly gonna enjoy mine and right now at 2pm - I'm gonna have a smoke on my deck.

Hey Barry,  thanks for the heads up. Does anyone have this particular model filled to capacity? How many cabs/boxes does it hold?

Thanks.

I currently have 18 various sized boxes plus 2 small cedar trays with singles and I still have some room for more boxes.  Got to play box tetris as they come in...

Search for this model newair 28 (or other 28 capacity) and you'll see a number of pictures of how people have them set up.  The next size up for thermo-electric (32 bottle) doesn't add that much more room for an extra $150 and to go bigger than that - you are into compressor cooling which according to some may not be a bad thing - I do not profess to know which is better/worse...

I only know that from personal experience in an ambient environment not over 76 degrees F this unit held temp/humidity at 63-65F/62-65%RH quite well.

It really doesn't kick on all that much if the door remains shut most of the time.
